Another amazing round of Mornington Peninsula cellar door visits wrapped up, with special congratulations to Stonier, Willow Creek Vineyard, Yabby Lake and Morning Sun who each received our "1 Door" award, joining the regions three previous award recipients. While particularly known for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, there are actually a significant number of micro climates in this region, resulting in not only the production of quite varied wines, but also some great wines that aren't necessarily traditionally considered a cool climate wine. There is also a fabulous range of cellar doors from small, limited production, “purest” operations, to larger venues with all encompassing wine, food and other complementary offerings. Having now visited over 20 of the regions cellar doors, and coupled with some fantastic dining options, beautiful beaches and scenic walks, we can safely say that there is something in this region for everyone! #cellardoorscore #morningtonpeninsula #winefoodfarmagate
A little off the main drag, @mantons_creek_estate is a cellar door to keep an eye on! Currently home to a cute tasting room and some lovely accommodation, there are some major developments underway, including a completely new cellar door space. With eight varietals planted and a minimal intervention approach to winemaking, they have a great range of lovely cool climate wines that you are invited to taste with their fun and engaging team. We look forward to checking out the new setup in due course! #cellardoorscore #morningtonpeninsula
A very chilly afternoon sorted! A lovely Red Hilll Estate Pinot Noir, courtesy of our hosts at the beautiful #maxsretreat, and a roaring fire! Perfect way to “wine down” after what was another great day of cellar door visits! #cellardoorscore #morningtonpeninsula
If you’re after a great cellar door experience coupled with a little fine dining when visiting Mornington Peninsula, then definitely check out Port Phillip Estate. Set within a contemporary, architecturally designed building that takes full advantage of its amazing views of the sweeping vineyards and out to Westernport Bay, the food, service and wine are all top notch. The cellar door itself is home to a range of both their Port Philip Estate and Kooyong labels, with a number of these beautiful wines also featured on the dining room wine list. If it’s still on the menu, definitely save room for the Banana soufflé #cellardoorscore #winefoodfarmgate #morningtonpeninsula

It’s hard to go wrong when you kick off with Champagne and Oysters! The Long Table in Red Hill not only produces some sensational seasonal and regional food, but also offers the opportunity to sample a range of @quealywines at their restaurant cellar door, including a variety of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and a beautiful Late Harvest Muscat. We really enjoyed the food, ambience and service here, so much so that we ended up dining here twice in one weekend! #cellardoorscore #winefoodfarmgate #morningtonpeninsula
It’s always great when you kick-off a round of cellar door visits on a positive and Yabby Lake certainly delivered! Housed in a beautiful setting with a modern, sleek (but cosy) fitout that takes full advantage of the sensational views out over the vineyards and to the hills beyond, this cellar door has a great, relaxed feel with a friendly and knowledgeable team. With a vineyard aspect that is ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, there is a nice range of each on offer, as well as a few other great wines including a beautiful 2011 single vineyard sparkling. Also be sure to check out their “Pink Claw” Grenache Rose, which is a lovely crisp, dry style Rose, with a portion of the profits from every bottle sold going toward supporting women affected by breast cancer. A great initiative and a fantastic cellar door experience!
