This co-op is approximately 100 metres down from the Chateau des Papes which is on top of the hill in Chateaunuef du Pape. It is basically the main path into town from the Chateau des Papes and can be quite steep in parts

We parked on top of the hill near the Chateau des Papes and walked down into town. We found parking in town a little restrictive
This is the only Le Cave in France that we visited that was actually a cave. It is carved into the rock with a number of chambers, including one containing two tanks each with thirty hectoliters of Gallo-Roman origin where they actually used to ferment wine. Very cool!
Boutique

Excellent
The man who served us was extremely friendly and spoke English very well. He showed us the roman wine vats and explained the history and then explained the way the AOC rules work for the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. He even gave us a great snack tip for blue cheese and toast which we have since had a number of times...delicious!

This cave was very, very cool. We really enjoyed our visit and were very glad we ventured into the ominous looking cave entry! Parking at the top of the hill also makes for short transportation of your purchases back to the car!
