ChampagneChampagne, possibly the most famous wine region in the world, is full of legendary names such as Dom Perignon and Moet & Chandon. It is also home to some pretty villages and beautiful vine covered hills.
If visiting Champagne, a must do is a visit to one of the large famous champagne houses, but don't forget to also try a few of the smaller ones which will provide a very different, but equally rewarding experience. Beyond tours and tastings, other things to do include a wander along the Avenue de Champagne in Epernay to look at all of the beautiful chateaus, a visit to Reims to check out it's extraordinary cathedral and a stop off at the giant statue of Pope Urban II in Chatillion-sur-Marne. Another must do is a trip to Hautvillers, the burial place of Dom Perignon and the prettiest little village with plenty of picturesque vistas from it's elevated position.
