Owned by Vincent Bouchard, a 9th generation winemaker and family member of the prominent Bouchard Pere et Fils winery in Burgundy, Quinta do Tedo has a Single Quinta classification, the Portuguese equivalent of a Single Estate.
Their 100% estate-grown organic grapes come from 37 acres of class "A" vineyards, the highest rating from the Portuguese ‘Instituto do Vinhos do Douro e Porto’ (comparable to France's Grand Cru), with less than 2% of Douro Valley appellation's receiving this classification.
Offering a fun and interesting tour, including an explanation of the traditional process of foot treading in the lagars, panoramic views of the Douro valley, which we took in while having a beautiful lunch on the terrace and a great range of Portos and red wines to sample, this is a beautiful setting to spend an afternoon.
